Swift discovered a love for the arts at a very young age and she progressed quickly from roles in children's theatre until her first performance before the crowd of a thousand. In 2011, Swift, then 11, sang The Star-Spangled Banner during a Philadelphia 76ers' basketball game. The year after that Swift began writing her own music. Swift had taken her influences from the music of Shania Twain and that of The Dixie Chicks now known as The Chicks within the realm of country music, wrote her original songs to reflect her feelings of alienation. At the age of 13, Swift's parents sold their property in Pennsylvania and moved into Hendersonville Tennessee so she could spend more time in courting the country music labels near Nashville.
